About Recruitment at Theta Chi and Rush Week

During the rush period at WVU every perspective goes through a process called the recruitment process. Every new individual seeking fraternity life will go through the houses on a tour with the IFC board (Inter Fraternal Council) for one week showing the brothers and houses on campus. These house tours will take place every day between 6 PM and 9 PM between Monday, September 12th and Friday, September 16th. The week following house tours is rush week. Rush week is approaching quickly. It will take place from Monday, September 19th through Friday, September 23rd. Rush events will take place every day at the Theta Chi house (located at the top of the high street stairs) between 6 PM and 8 PM. Perspectives can attend as much of these events as they choose. During rush week at Theta Chi here we have events, food, and refreshments for the perspectives trying to get to know you and introducing the brothers. This week is a good week for us the brothers to get to know our perspective pledges and future brothers to see who we would like to invite to join our chapter Alpha Kappa. Once the week is over we invite perspectives that we think are going to be essential and qualified brothers to come up to our house to receive a bid or invitation to join this once in a lifetime organization. If you or any perspective receives a bid they will have the option to pledge our fraternity.

Thursday, Sept 22nd – Bid Interviews, At Night: Social with Kappa Kappa Gamma

Friday, Sept 23rd – Bid Night

Becoming a brother at Theta Chi Alpha Kappa

Over 150 years of traditions, brotherhood, and excellence.

Theta Chi is the one of the most prestigious fraternities on the WVU campus. We guard entrance to our chapter with the upmost vigilance and look to extend offers of brotherhood to men of the highest moral character.

Theta Chi Fraternity was founded on April 10, 1856, at Norwich University in Norwich, Vermont. The Greek motto of Theta Chi is Θηρόποεα Χείρ, which is translated as “An Assisting Hand.” The objects of Theta Chi were to “bind by closer bonds the members to each other and the mutual assistance of each of its members.”

Current Brothers are known for living in a house that builds strong bonds between brothers and excels in Greek and University sponsored competitions.

Men of this brotherhood strive for greatness socially, academically, and in athletics. Joining Theta Chi will also give you the opportunity to fulfill your college experience by becoming involved in organizations on campus, in the community and participating in intramural sports, socials, and brotherhood events throughout the year.
